Disappointment and Amazement

So Tucker just got checked out by the pediatrician. All good except for weight. Was really thinking he had a good night - but he lost .5 K from yesterday. So down from 2.74 K at birth (6 pounds .65 ounces) to 2.4 today (5 pounds 4.65 ounces) which is more than 10% of his body weight so he stays. So disappointment we are staying, but amazed at how well he is doing for 6 weeks early. Just need to not expect to go home tomorrow and take it day by day. Easier said than done, yeah?

  1. Jen,

I'm so happy you are doing well! Reading yours and Andrew's words just melt my heart. Tuckers arrival is so much like Wyatt's (born at 35 wks, 5lbs 9oz) Two totally unprepared first time parents ;) We had just sanded our hardwood floors the weekend before and were about to stain them. Had to move all the furniture back in! So I can definitely relate to some of what you're going through. Just know that so many people here are thinking about you guys and sending you lots of love!

I'm so glad your little guy arrived safe and healthy. You are all so lucky to have each other.

    xoxo

  2. I also wanted to add. Don't sweat all the baby stuff you don't have yet.It seems so stressful but that little guy has everything he needs with you and Andrew (and some diapers of course). We figured that out too. Please let me know if there is anything I can do from afar to help you guys.

  3. So proud of you Jen!!! Congrats! It sounds like you and Andrew are doing great...don't worry you will figure it all out and it may be overwhelming, but you'll learn this parenting stuff together! Ah the tears...those baby blues can feel overpowering. After Kenzie was born I seriously questioned my ability to be a good mom and had many emotional ups and downs. Those hormones will whack things out! :) Take care and give that cutie pie a kiss for me (Tucker, not Andrew ;) Wow - look at all his hair!

  4. Thanks Ladies!

I will definitely kiss them both - but will only tell Tucker it is from you;)

Yeah, we aren't worrying about too many 'things' Just needed nappies (we're in London now - no diapers) wipes, someplace for him to sleep - got a cute Safari themed Moses Basket and a car seat to be allowed to take him home!

    Time to go pump!
